Earning money as a beginner blogger is one of the best feelings in the world. It means you have created a successful blog and you’re able to scale it and take it to new heights. Starting a blog has been so much fun for me. I love how I get to write posts that help other people find information on starting a blog. When I first started blogging, I learned from trial and error. It took me some time to start earning money from my blog. Once I started earning money, I was able to continue to grow my blog and my income.
As a new blogger, sometimes it can be frustrating to not know where to begin or how to start making money. In this post, I’ll share with you 7 ways to making money as a beginner blogger.
This post may contain affiliate links. Read my full disclosure for more information.
The second thing you’ll want to do is to create your first blog post, if you haven’t already. Don’t just throw something out there to say you have a blog post. Write a quality, valuable, informative article. A good rule of thumb is to make sure your article is around at least 800 words. This varies by niche though. Chose a length that feels right to you. There are no hard and fast rules here.
My posts are usually between 1,500 – 5,000 words long. My niche is geared towards helping people start a blog and earning money online. Earning money as a brand new blogger is dependant on the quality of your work. You want to make sure you provide value in your blog posts to your readers. My niche is a bit more informative and my posts are generally longer because I make sure to provide value to you, my reader. Every blogger is different and it depends on your niche and what you blog about. A good rule of thumb is to check out what other bloggers in your niche are doing and possibly use their blog posts as a guideline for your own. You decide what works best for you.

How To Make Money As A Beginner Blogger
Making money as a beginner blogger is not as difficult as it may seem. Once you have a system in place, making money from your blog as a beginner won’t be so daunting. In my tips below, you will learn the best ways to make money online as a beginner blogger.
There are many ways to make money online as a beginner blogger. You’ve probably checked out other bloggers who are making $5,000, $10,000 or even $100,000 per month and you’re wondering, “what are they doing that I’m not?”
Well, it’s simple; they have a system. Bloggers can make money from many streams, including the 7 ways I’ve listed below which are the most common and most lucrative ways to make money online.
In my tips below, you will learn the best ways to make money online as a beginner blogger.
1. Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate income is one of my main sources of income for my blog. Affiliate income is when you refer someone to a product or service that you’re promoting in your blog post. You’ll want to join sites such as Shareasale and MaxBounty to sign up as an affiliate.
You don’t want to overwhelm yourself with signing up with too many affiliate networks, though. You can easily earn money as a brand new blogger from affiliate marketing alone. I know quite a few bloggers who earn more than half their blogging income just off affiliate marketing alone.
2. Grow Your Email List
Having an email list is imperative to your success and growth as a beginner blogger. If you have no clue as to where to start, I recommend taking my free course on growing your email list from scratch. You can sign up here.
You can grow your email list by adding an opt-in form in your blog posts. This is a way for new subscribers to reach you. Your opt-in can be something as simple as a free cheat sheet or template. Just make sure it adds value and is helpful to your audience.
3. Create A Course
Creating a course is one of the best ways to making money as a blogger; if you know your audience and if you know the number one problem they are willing to pay for to have solved. Not sure who your audience is or their need? I recommend checking out my course, The Blogging Empire Guide, to help you find your audience and understand their needs so you can build a successful money making blog online.
4. Master Pinterest
If you haven’t already, I highly recommend setting up a business account with Pinterest. Pinterest is a search tool where over 250 million active users visit every month. Over 72% of Pinners say Pinterest is where they were first introduced to a product or service. Pinterest also inspired them to purchase these products when they weren’t even looking to buy. How cool is that!?
Besides being a major search engine, Pinterest is the Queen of Traffic. With Pinterest, you can drive free traffic to your blog. More pageviews to your blog = more sales to your products and services (or affiliate products and services).
The idea of using Pinterest is to create relevant content and pin it to your boards where other people can find your relevant content. I suggest creating 10 – 15 boards that are relevant to your niche and creating images with a CTA (call-to-action) to entice someone to click your link.
If you haven’t already, I suggest you sign up for Tailwind. This service schedules your pins for you so you can have your content readily available for the world to see. I also recommend joining some Tailwind Tribes. Tribes are like Pinterest Groups, which are a group of people who share and pin your content. The more re-pins and shares your content gets = a greater reach to a larger audience. And we all know the larger the audience, the greater the pageviews and the increase in sales.
- Schedule your pins for Pinterest!
- Find awesome content to pin and share!
- Join Tailwind Tribes and collaborate with other Pinners
- Pin smart with performance reporting
5. Coach One-on-One
Coaching is an awesome way to make money as a beginner blogger. If you are an expert in a specific field and can help someone achieve a goal, I recommend coaching. Earlier in my blogging days, I coached clients one-on-one. It was the most exhilarating feeling to be able to help someone else achieve their goals and walk them through the process step-by-step. You can create packages for your services and offer 6-12 week packages for clients to go through your program. The opportunities are endless when it comes to coaching.
For a limited time, I am offering coaching for bloggers who are looking to create successful blogs. You can apply here to see if we’d be a fit working together.
6. Sell Your Services
Maybe you’re a writer or a VA (virtual assistant) or you provide some type of service. Why not sell them? I know quite a few bloggers who got their start by selling services. They were VA’s or they were freelance writer’s or they consulted other businesses or clients until they were successful enough to blog full-time or do both to earn a living.
Maybe you’re a graphic designer and you want to sell your services to other businesses. By all means, do it. You can do it! The best part about selling your services is that you can choose your own pricing structure. Here are just a few examples of services you can sell:
- Virtual Assistance
- Creative Writing
- Web Design/Development
- SEO/Digital Marketing
- Recruiting/Human Resources
To let your audience know about your services, create a “Services” page on your website so your audience knows where to go. Include your pricing, what your services entail and other useful information that might be helpful.
If you’re looking to get clients for your services, I’d recommend creating a landing page and directing traffic to your landing page. You can promote your landing page through Pinterest to get some leads. If you don’t have a landing page service, I recommend using Convertkit. If you sign up through my link, you’ll get s free 30-day trial.
7. Sell Planners & Printables
I don’t know about you but I LOVE planners and printables! As a beginner blogger, these are must-haves. They help to make your life so much easier. I love printables and planners and use them in my life to help make blogging easier.
So why not create them?
Many bloggers promote planners and printables and make a full-time income by selling them. You can use PicMonkey to create your designs. You can check out my blogging planner, The Goal Setting Planner, here.
