Welcome to Day 5!
Affiliate income is one of my favorite ways to earning money online. I’m so happy you made it this far in the course! You definitely want to pay attention to today’s lesson as I talk about how you can start earning money from you blog.
Before we dive in today’s most important lesson, let’s make sure you have the following done:
Write Your About Me Page
Write Your First Blog Post!
If you haven’t done any or all of the above, stop right now and complete those steps before moving on.
Now, let’s talk about earning money with affiliate income.
Let’s start with the basics on what affiliate income is all about.
What is Affiliate Income?
Affiliate income is when you place a link into your content and earn a commission when someone clicks your link and buys a specific product or service.
These products can be both digital and physical products. A digital product is an eBook, course, template or blueprint. Digital products can be downloaded right away and do not need to be shipped out. A physical product is something that you’ll receive in the mail such as clothing, for example.
As an affiliate, you can promote both physical and digital products. You are paid when someone buys the products through your links!
This is a great way to earn money. If there is a product that you love and have used or are currently using, you review that product and hope to gain the interest of others to use that product as well.
Affiliate income is awesome because there are so many ways to earn money from affiliate links. You can create a “How To” article and discuss, for example, how to tie a tie. Maybe you buy your ties from an exclusive retailer online and would like to promote how great their ties are. If they have an affiliate program, you can sign up for their affiliate program and earn a commission every time someone buys from your link.
A great thing to know about affiliate income is that it is virtually passive. It’s also great because it doesn’t cost your readers anything extra when they click on your affiliate link. It is a set it and forget it type of income, in a way. You may have to maintain the links to ensure they work over time, however, you can earn affiliate income while you’re sleeping, on vacation or doing absolutely nothing. This is the way to go..
What could be better than that?
Below are some tips for increasing your affiliate income:
- Join affiliate programs. If you want to make affiliate income, you need to join some affiliate programs. There are many different affiliate programs to check out. These include Shareasale, Flex Offers, and MaxBounty.
- Use the Pretty Link plugin. This can be used this for all of your affiliate links. It makes them look nice and clean versus the long links that affiliate programs usually provide. Here’s what my links look like: “https://bonnechic.com/blogging-empire-guide“.
- Don’t over do it. There’s no need to include an affiliate link 12,000 times (obviously this is an exaggeration but you get it) in a blog post. Include them at the beginning, middle, and the end; your readers will notice them.
- Provide real, honest reviews. You should always be honest with your reviews. In my product reviews, I’ll only recommend a product that I use or that has worked for me. Do the same for your audience. Provide them real, honest feedback on products you review and why they should use them (or not) as well.
- Publish great tutorials. Your audience wants to know how they can use a product and the benefits that product can provide. Publishing great step-by-step, detailed tutorials is key.
How Much Money Can You Make With Affiliate Income?
When it comes to earning money with affiliate income, the sky is the limit. You can earn as much money as you want. As a new blogger, you will have to take specific steps and follow a framework to get your blog to making serious money. I’m not going to lie, making money from a blog is possible but it also requires work. I’m not talking about writing a post and hoping and wishing someone finds your blog and clicks on a link. I’m talking about being strategic with your blog to target your audience to doing exactly what you want them to do. Clicking your links. Blogging is a real job and requires real work. Yes, it’s super fun and I love it but blogging has made me work harder than any other real job I’ve had in my life.
So, if you really want to make money blogging, you have to put in real effort and follow a framework. It’s that simple.
Let’s talk about the framework.
To start making money blogging, you need to make sure you first understand who your audience is. If you’re a mommy blogger, who are you targeting? New moms? Moms with toddlers? Moms who want to lose weight after having a baby? Moms who work in Corporate America who want to work from home to spend time with their kids? You have to be specific. You can’t be a generic blogger. You have to identify your audience and build your blog from there.
Once you identify your audience, start blogging. Ideally, you’ll want to create 10-20 quality posts on topics your audience is most interested in. Don’t have any idea where to start? Don’t worry. I have a post on guiding you step-by-step to finding keywords and blog topics your audience is searching for. You can check out that post here.
From there you’ll want to recommend products and services to your audience that benefit them in some way. These products can be affiliate products and services. Once you add your affiliate links to your posts, you can begin to promote the products and services to your audience.
I know this may be overwhelming as I’ve just bombarded you with a lot of information. Starting a blog is essentially starting a business. Whether you plan on blogging full-time or part-time, you signed up for this course because you want a profitable blog.
I get it and I understand. I was once where you were when I started my blog. I totally wish I had someone who clearly laid out the foundation for making money blogging without any fluff.
That’s why I created, The Blogging Empire Guide. In my course, I share with you my exact strategy and tips on how I earn money blogging through affiliate.
