Meijer’s smaller sized brick-and-mortar retailer concept—convenience-focused Meijer Grocery— opened its very first two stores in southeast Michigan’s Orion Township and Macomb Township on Thursday.

Meijer is a privately-owned and relatives-operated business founded in 1934. The grocer operates 501 supercenters, community markets and specific spots in the Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Wisconsin.
