We’ve all been there. That sadness creeps in, seemingly out of nowhere and it feels like nothing can be done to make everything alright again. It seems as if there’s no hope or no way out. I’ve been there and it’s a lonely place. I fought depression naturally without any medication or doctor visits and I’m living the life of my dreams. I want to share with you how you too, can overcome depression.
Take A Deep Breath
Believe it or not, inhaling and exhaling relieves toxins in the body and helps to clear your mind. You begin to refresh your senses and a calmness comes over you. No matter how bad something may feel, take a deep breath. Start by closing your eyes and inhale. Then, slowly exhale out all the tension and sorrow inside of you. After doing this for a few minutes, you’ll start to feel better.
Sit In Silence
Sitting in silence is one of the best ways to release anxiety, fear, depression and anger. It allows you to let go of any outside interference and focus on yourself. Take some deep breaths and focus on your breathing. Try and think of absolutely nothing. Let go of any worries or doubts. Just sit in silence and enjoy the moment.
Being able to sit in silence is a challenge within itself. Eliminate distractions if possible and sit in a quiet place. By doing this, you’re able to focus on what matters most; yourself. Your breathing. The simple things in life. Your life. Sitting in silence and focusing on your breath is the best way to calm yourself down. Sit for about 5-10 minutes. After doing this, you’ll come out a much happier and calmer person.
There is nothing better than writing down or reflecting on the things you’re thankful for. What are you grateful for? Maybe it’s your family or a loved one or a friend. Maybe it’s reflecting on gratitude for overcoming a situation and being able to move forward in life. Whatever it is, reflect on what you’re grateful for and give thanks.
Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff
Small things cause big issues over nothing. People eventually forget about what the small issue was that caused such chaos. Forget about small things. In the end, they don’t matter. Maybe someone irritated you at work or a loved one said something to you that you didn’t like. Take those things with a grain of salt and ignore them. The best case for getting over small things is to acknowledge them in the moment and move on. Let it go. Don’t hang on to issues that happened three weeks ago and bring them up. Let them go. If something bothers you, address it in a calm manner and move on. If a situation gets hostile or if you feel it’s getting heated, walk away.
Nothing is worth taking your energy away. Remember that only you have the power to overcome anything in life. You have to make the choice to be a better person and move past small issues. This will take time to master but once you’re able to accomplish this, you will see a huge difference in your life, relationships and overall well-being.
This has changed my life for the better. I haven’t had an argument in years. I don’t let things bother me or get upset. I reflect, acknowledge and move forward in my life and in situations. This is a life-changer. Taking your power back in your life and having control over your life allows you to determine how you want to respond to situations. When you have complete power over your emotions, no one can take that away from you.
You can choose to eliminate negativity by choosing to be happy. A lot of people ask me, “how do I become happy?”. The answer is quite simple; by choosing to become happy. You can be happy right now. Smile. Laugh. Think of something that makes you happy. Think of how you’re going to overcome your depression or fear or anxiety naturally. That’s something to be happy about. Jump up and down, move, shake, give someone a hug. Doing these small gestures can improve your well-being but also emit positive energy. Like attracts like. If you want to be around positive and influential people, you have to also become positive and influential.
You can choose to live the life you want today. Seek out someone who you believe inspires you. Maybe this is a friend, relative or someone you follow online that provides great advice or resources. Doing this can also help you to find yourself and point you in the right direction for helping yourself. We all need a little encouragement every once in awhile and here’s my encouragement to you:
You can be anything you want to be
You have the power to change the world
You have the choice to be happy today
You can do anything in this world; you just have to believe
Be your own inspiration
I want to hear from you. Tell me about you overcoming your depression or your journey dealing with depression. You’re an inspiration to someone right now who is looking up to you 🙂
